The OSLC Staff:

Pastor Barbara Berry-Bailey, Intentional Interim Pastor

The Rev. Barbara Berry-Bailey served at the ELCA Churchwide Office in Chicago for fifteen years, most recently as the Manager for Relationships in East and Southern Africa.

She was formerly a producer of “Grace Matters,” the radio ministry of the ELCA, and before that the associate director of worship during the development of what is now the Evangelical Lutheran Worship resource (ELW or “the cranberry book,” as some have come to know it).

A fifth generation member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, she was not able to attend seminary upon graduation from the University of Michigan and she had a successful career in public radio and television, including NPR in Washington, DC, prior to her ordination in the ELCA.  Pastor Barbara has served congregations in the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod, Metropolitan Chicago and is now rostered in the Rocky Mountain Synod.

Pastor Barbara was widowed three years ago and has two adult children; Kenneth Diggs, married with three children, and Cynthia, footloose and fancy free, living and working in Chicago.

When not involved in congregational responsibilities, Pastor Barbara enjoys singing, writing, cooking, quilting.  “Since the mountains are everywhere I look, I guess now I have to start climbing them literally, instead of metaphorically,” she jokes.
