We’ve gone solar!  On June 10, 2015, we had 39 solar panels installed.  This will help lower our electric bills as well as help care for God’s creation.  Read how all this came about here!  Pictures by Jeffrey Louden.

On Jan. 8, 2015 fourteen volunteers met at the Utah Food Bank to sort food for Seniors in need of nourishing food.  We filled 504 boxes in about 75 minutes!  Every 36 boxes, we needed to stop and be inventoried; we were accurate 100% of the time.  We meet new people and have a lot of fun every time we go to the UFB!

The first “Blessing of the Skiers” event took place on Sat., Dec. 6, 2014.  Hot Cocoa and blessings were given to many skiers and boarders and were well recieved.  It was an up”lift”ing morning for all!
On September 7, 2014 we celebrated in the 2nd Annual “GOD’S WORK-OUR HANDS SUNDAY”.  After one joyful Worship Service combining elements from both traditional and contemporary styles, we dove into many projects.  While children and adults made “Thank You” cards for first responders, the kitchen was busy with people making lunches to be brought to two local fire stations and Fisher House.  Fisher House and Family Promise centers were cleaned and organized.  Small groups went to two houses to assist with the demolition of an old deck and cleaning out/organizing a back porch.  Blankets were made for children needing comfort, and hygiene kits were assembled to be distributed to people who ask for help.  Another group went to help out at the Salt Lake Detox Center.  While all this was happening, still another group offered “Drive Thru Prayer” in front of the church. We wrapped up the day with a potluck dinner, shared our experiences and gave glory to God for the work of the day!

Our summer months in 2014 were busy!  We had the west parking lot redone in June just in time for our annual Patriotic Worship Service on July 6th.  John and Marsha’s duet of “This is My Song” was beautiful, and the congregation enjoyed singing national hymns.  The service was outside on our West Lawn and was followed by a picnic.  A group of campers spent several days in the Uintah’s over the 24th of July weekend, hiking, canoeing and enjoying the beauty of God’s creation!  Our Evangelism Team participated in one of the Millcreek Venture Out events in August, handing out balloons and info packets to those who visited our site.

December 2013 was a busy, busy month!

Beginning with a candle-lit remembrance ceremony at our water feature, the “Hanging of the Greens” event, the Women’s Christmas Tea, a Wesley Bell Ringers  Concert, our Senior Brunch (wearing robes and slippers!),our Annual Christmas Program and ending with three very special Christmas Eve Services. Check out the live Manger scene at our “Child Friendly” Worship Service!  Guest children were invited to be part of the “Angel Choir” in the scene, which was followed by the Children’s Message and all singing “Away in a Manger”.

On November 17, 2013 we celebrated Consecration Sunday, with one worship service with a combination of both the Traditional and Contemporary services.  Bishop James Gonia (Rocky Mountain Synod) celebrated with us and delivered the sermon. We also blessed the 85 shoeboxes filled for Operation Christmas Child before shipping them off around the world to children in need.  The service concluded with many families and individuals offering their commitment cards, pledging to support the ministries of Our Saviour’s.  We then gathered for a luncheon of delicious Chinese food and fellowship!

2013 God’s Work – Our Hands Sunday of Service.  For several weeks, the congregation collected and delivered items to Lutheran Social Services Thrift Shoppe, as well as diapers and wipes for new Quintuplets.  On Sunday, Sept. 8th, we made pipe cleaner “mosquitoes” to raise funds for the ELCA Malaria Project; assembled bags of food, resources and scriptures of hope for those in need – the children drew pictures to place in the bags as well; offered blood pressure checks and heart-healthy info; harvested our community garden to give to those in need; teams went to two locations to work inside and outside; the Chancel Choir went to two nursing homes to sing for residents; a prayer team offered “drive-thru” prayers; gathered for potluck dinner, sharing of experiences, and closing worship.  A great day – we were blessed!

June 30, 2013 was our Patriotic Worship Service to celebrate our nation’s Independence.  The choir sang The Battle Hymn of the Republic, and led national hymns throughout the service.  Red, white and blue were the colors of the day as we enjoyed time together at a picnic.
