Church Council

The OSLC Church Council is elected by the congregation and, in partnership with the OSLC Pastor and Staff, leads the congregation in many ways.  Meeting monthly, the council provides oversight for the congregation’s ministries, property, finances, and long term plans.  Each council member volunteers to be involved in a specific ministry area.  Please call the church office at 801-278-1412 if you would like a Council member to get in touch with you.

John HanksJohn Hanks – Council President

John is a General Contractor with a focus in the area of home improvement/remodeling.  John and his wife, Susan, are the parents of 10 grown children.  John enjoys hiking and mountain biking in his spare time.

 

Bizzi Drinkaus – Council Vice-President 

Bizzi was baptized as a child, confirmed as a teen but was convinced to put her trust in Jesus while living in Zaire through Bible study and the prayers of others. She was introduced to Our Saviour’s when she participated in a medical mercy mission to Viet Nam many years ago, and has been an active participant in many of OSLC’s ministries ever since.  

Bob Ricci – Council Treasurer
Bob has been a member of OSLC for over 25 years. He and Cathy are proud parents of 3 adult sons and joy-filled grandparents of 5. After a career in public education, Bob is a software consultant working primarily with school districts in Utah and Alaska. He enjoys travel, photography and spending time with his family.
Tristan Abbott – Council Secretary and Liaison to Youth & Family Ministry
Tristan grew up in the small town of Sunnyside, Washington, and went to school in Bozeman, Montana, where he met Sydney.  They moved to Utah in 2013 and married.  He enjoys canoeing, hiking ,and reading sci-fi and western books.  Tristan and Sydney teach one of the elementary age Sunday school classes.

Chris EntzelChris Entzel – Liaison to Property
Chris has attended OSLC since 2004.  He is married to Hether Telford, and they have two daughters.  Chris graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1994.
201602271407n_459 Richard Jones – Liaison to Evangelism
Richard has lived and worked throughout the western states, focusing mainly on the transportation industry.  Richard has a
heart for evangelism.  He was the pastor of Shilo Bible Fellowship for several years and served as chaplain to the Las Vegas
Drivers Fellowship located at the Petro Truck Stop there.  Richard was also the founder of the “You Are Not Alone” ministry for
professional drivers in Salt Lake City.
LennbergMarion Lennberg – Liaison to Worship & Music
Marion retired from the U of U College of Pharmacy after 47 years (and she’s still not a pharmacist!)  She has a son and daughter in law in Boulder, CO, and an amazing grandson.  Now that she is retired she enjoys exercising, volunteering at OSLC and the Fourth Street Clinic.
Austin McDowell – Liaison to Evangelism and Worship & Music

Austin is a second-year honors student in religion and Chinese at the University of Utah, with plans to attend seminary after graduation. He has been a member of Our Saviour’s for more than ten years, and considers the church a second home. Austin is an enthusiastic volunteer in many capacities at OSLC.  He also likes to spend time with friends and explore the outdoors.

Dave Mulder – Liaison to Scholarship and Social Ministry

Dave has been a member of OSLC since the 1990’s.  A former member of Council and Chair of the last Call Committee, Dave is currently a member of the choir, and Chair of the Scholarship Committee. OSLC has been a strength and support to Dave and his wife Shelley (before her passing) during’ many difficult times.  OSLC members are among his closest friends.

Rich WeberStewardship – Rich Weber
Rich is retired from State of Utah Adult Probation & Parole.  He is married to Marti, and has two married adult children and one grandson.  He feels blessed to be a member of two families – his own and the Our Saviour’s family of God’s children.  He feels that being on Council again this year continues his connection with serving his church and community. 
Carla
Carla Wonder-McDowell – Liaison to Christian Education
Carla is married to Leonard McDowell and they have four children. She has a Ph.D. from Utah State University in Curriculum and Instruction. Before retiring from Granite School District she was a classroom teacher, principal and district-level administrator. Her passion is teaching students to read. Carla is currently teaching masters level courses at Concordia University, Portland and the University of Phoenix online. She enjoys playing the guitar with the praise band at OSLC, hiking, camping, swimming and digital photography/scrapbooking.
