Worship & Music

Worship is an important way for us to strengthen our relationship with God.  We come to worship ready to Praise, Pray, Learn and Receive. Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday—our table is open and offered to all who seek God. Each service strives to connect us to God in a meaningful way.

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church offers worship that is joyful and musical! We have plenty of opportunities for you to share your musical talents in Choir, the Worship Band, or perhaps sharing a solo or playing an instrument as part of Worship. Do you like to act? We also have occasional dramas that are part of Worship as well! All of our musical groups are volunteer and open to anyone that would like to participate.

Liturgy from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) hymnal is used, and is led by the Chancel Choir. The ELW has ten different musical settings, which we draw from during the Church Year, so worship always remains fresh and meaningful. Sue Hagen serves as our volunteer Chancel Choir Director and also directs the Sunday School families for special occasions. Choir rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM. Our accompanist is Judy England. Even if you’ve only sung in the car or the shower, all voices are welcome!

There are many other ways to serve in the ministry of worship and music! Many people are needed during each service to facilitate worship: taking care of the altar, lighting candles, serving communion, reading the lessons, being an usher, or greeting guests. You can be part of our prayer ministry as we pray for others during communion. If your talents run toward the audio and visual world, we have a projection and sound system for you to help us with. All that is required is a willingness to serve and a little training!

“Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and  sing praises! Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! With trumpets and  the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD!” – Psalm 98:4-6

Our Worship & Music Team can answer any questions, and help you find a way to share your musical talents. You are welcome to contact the church office; office@oslcslc.org or 801-278-1412.
